The purpose of the intramural sports program is to
provide an opportunity for Christopher Newport
University students, faculty and staff members to
take part in competitive and non-competitive
recreational sport activities within the
framework of educational endeavors.
Intramurals, literally meaning "within the walls"
pertains to something within one institution.
Intramural sports involve competition from
participants that are both within the same school.
Therefore, the program is designed to accommodate
the interest of the University community.
Intramurals encompasses an inclusive
environment of healthy competition, where
sportsmanship is emphasized and programs
are available to participants regardless of
their skill level, ability, experience or otherwise.
