Coed Rules
Why are their Coed rules for certain sports?
- As a Member Institution of the National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association (NIRSA), we must abide by rules that are set forth by this association. Some teams may venture to outside competitions, so our rules must coincide with theirs. In addition, some rules are put in place to make sure we provide an even playing field, as well as a safe environment.
Defaults / Forfeits
What is a default?
-When a team is unable to play their scheduled match or game, so they notify the Program Assistant prior to showing up to the field. However, if a team has to default last minute, they may send at least one person to the field to default the day of the game.
What happens when a team defaults?
-A team who defaults will have a $5 penalty assessed to their forfeit fee and that game will count as a "loss." Two defaults results in a forfeit. Any team who defaults will still receive a '5' for Sportsmanship.
Can a team start a game 10 minutes late when the rest of their team will show up?
-NO! The minimum number of players for a sport must be checked in by game time, and if a team doesn't have enough players...they must default the game!
What is a forfeit?
- When a team does not notify the Program Assistant their team is unable to play, and/or just don't show up to their game.
What happens when a team forfeits?
When a team forfeits they lose the forfeit fee they paid and will be removed from further competition.

-No, all first aid kits are only to be handled by sport supervisors on site. This is the property of the Office of Recreational Services.
